By a Craigslist buyer.
We had talked, decided on a time. Even put off my trip to see my BF so I could sell it and the guy didn’t show. Wouldn’t answer my phone calls or texts.
I mean when you decided on a time to meet someone and they have explained they are putting off a trip and you say yeah that’s fine I’ll meet you. All ready to go etc. Then not show up, not answer your phone, and no text. I understand changing your mind on a purchase, but have the common decency to let the seller know your intentions have change. Fucking Tinder age of people suck. They have absolutely no idea how to properly communicate with other human beings. I am very thankful for my family and other adults around me raising me better than that.
In other news the GTO is still for sale $14k and it is yours. I put a sign in the window and will be driving it around.

I had a guy stand me up the same way when I was selling the Grom...After it was sold I went though the list of 15-20 people I had spoke with about it and sent a quick note saying “Bike is sold, thank you for your interest”. The guy that stood me up breaks his silence at this point and texts back “Thanks for fucking me”..........
You’re welcome guy.

Reserve not met on BaT?
![]() 06/24/2019 at 11:49 |

I thought it was up on BAT Auctions with no reserve?
EDIT: I see there was a reserve and it was not met.

ok how about $14,000 USD?
![]() 06/24/2019 at 11:59 |

14k?! Bwoah. How many miles on new cam?
![]() 06/24/2019 at 11:59 |

You’re not selling a beater, rather a top notch enthusiast car. I’m worried you’re going to deal with worse from CL before it’s sold, although I hope I’m wrong.
I really thought BaT was the best venue for you. I’m surprised and sorry it didn’t work out.

Oh I know I will *shrug* that is life. Yeah I thought I would at least get reserve :/

Maybe we can pool our resources...

My last message from him before that was something to the effect of “O k, I will come by on Saturday and probably take it home with me.”
My only guess is that he thought that message was the same thing as giving me a deposit.

Pssshhhh that is not how that works.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 12:15 |

I think that is approximately $1M Canadian
![]() 06/24/2019 at 12:18 |

I bet it’d sell if you dropped the price four or five thousand. I feel like you’ve only had so much trouble selling because you’re asking way too much.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 12:24 |

Sadly this isn’t an age group thing.
I’ve had plenty of 40-60 yo people be complete and utter flakes just as many times as 20-30 yos.
People in general have no concept of decency.
Sorry to hear things aren’t working as planned, good luck!

I always do this when something sells as well. Just a quick “_____is sold, thanks for your interest”.
Just like if I’m looking at something and change my mind “ Hey thanks for your time, but I’ve decided to pass”.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 12:59 |
|
That makes me sad. I don’t get it.
Yeah. It’ll sell eventually
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:00 |
|
Yeah I am sure I could sell it quickly that way, but that is far below what is is worth so I will not.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:02 |

It only grabbed $10,500 on BaT and that place is known for selling cars at inflated prices.

I'm gonna need way more foam.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:18 |

Sorry to hear that, good luck!
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:19 |

I just hope for your sake that you eventually get an offer better than the $10.5. Knowing CL, they’re probably gonna start at half of asking or cap out at a nice round 10.... Then flake anyway.

I think two things affected the out come of the auction. First, you mentioned an intermittent CEL, personally I wouldn’t buy a car with a CEL on unless it was very very cheap. Second, the lien on the title certainly didn’t help maters.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:27 |
|
Why? People buy cars from people all the time that still owe money on them even the BAT people had no issue with that, even said it was common. And the CEL is fixed anyway
![]() 06/24/2019 at 13:28 |

Not always newer cars.

I had a lady interested in a bike, said she was going to be at my house at 6 PM, never showed. I sold it to someone else on Sunday. Not a $14,000 transaction but still annoying to get stood up.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 14:11 |

Meh 10k seems to be the going price for 04 and 05 around here. 06 and up are about $15000 so I think his price is good
![]() 06/24/2019 at 14:29 |

BaT had set the reserve higher than that
![]() 06/24/2019 at 14:39 |
|
I look at the comparison of that is how almost how much I paid for my STi with more miles, same year. Just depends on the market for a particular car. Probably not comparable markets at all but it is still the same idea. And even with more miles now, I can probably still sell it for more than I paid. Just because unmodified and uncrashed.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:08 |

I think 14k is a great price for the Goat (probably didn’t come off that way) . Also what I paid for my Legacy GT six years ago with 68k on the clock. Doesn’t quite have the STI value retention though!
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:20 |
|
Ahh yeah, I read that as like the eyes bulging out of head emoji or crack pipe pricing lol. That value retention was part of what sealed the deal for me. I was worried I wouldn’t like the car or something and knowing that it would basically be a zero loss in that case, it was easier to take the chance. I do actually quite like the car though so I am happy. I’d have found a hatch to be more useful for sure but the sedan does look better and it was much easier to find anyways.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:27 |

You should have responded, "You're VERY welcome. Anytime."
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:29 |
|
That was pretty much my experience with the C5Z. Speaking of hatches, I think an STI hatch will replace the Legacy GT. Wish there were more options to consider but the STI is well up there nevertheless .
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:31 |

Just my thoughts.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:32 |
|
Haha I thought about it, but I “burned” my burner number after I saw that message. I thought “ok, bye psycho”
![]() 06/24/2019 at 15:57 |
|
Yeah, that's probably for the best.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 16:00 |
|
Whats the reason for replacing the legacy? Legacy GT was actually higher on my list than an STi since I didnt plan on racing the car or anything (thats what the miata is for) so better gas mileage and a better interior were higher on my list. But finding manual legacys was way too difficult and when I did, the price wasnt low enough to justify not just getting an STi instead. Then with the hatch/sedan thing, it was again a price factor since hawkeye hatches arent nearly as common as sedans.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 16:37 |
|
BaT only brings above-average prices for late-model Porsches, BMWs, and AMGs, as well as 80s and 90s cars.
There’s a reason you don’t see 50s and 60s oddballs (or prewar cars) on BaT anymore - they don’t sell at auction, and BaT’s content is 95% auctions now.
![]() 06/24/2019 at 16:39 |

Perception counts for a lot, and there’s more interest in auction lots with lively discussion.

Just getting long in the tooth, nothing wrong with it . Plenty of hatches to oogle at in the meantime.
